Tulip Festival

I can remember our family enjoying the Holland Tulip Festival when my children were young.  But somehow, the crowds have kept me away for many years.  I love tulips though, they are such a welcome sight in the spring. Tulips are difficult to grow in the country as the deer think they are a delectable treat and usually devour them shortly after they pop out of the ground.  In recent years I've decided to just bite the bullet and plant a variety of bulbs.  The deer don't seem to bother those plants that are close to the house, but the ones that I've planted in the big garden (I call it their hors' devour table) are constantly at risk.  Last year my daughter found some great stuff to spray on those much loved plants and it did the trick, we haven't had as much as a leaf touched.  Today I'm sharing my garden tulips with you, I hope you are encouraged to plant some bulbs this fall so you can enjoy your own Tulip Festival.

 My husbands favorite!

These are new this year, very cool!

I have around 25 varieties of Bearded Iris that are just magnificent.  I'll be sharing those as well, starting in June.  Hope you enjoyed the walk around my garden today!  Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Just beautiful, Carol. Thanks so much for sharing with us. (BTY--I only saw just plain tulips in Holland, not fancy ones like yours)
