Happy Monday!

You're probably thinking that I've really been a slacker over the past two weeks plus.  My postings have been sporadic.  Dragging myself into the office has been daunting at times. About 10 days ago I was diagnosed with acute diverticulitis.  I'd heard of it before, but until you're in the middle of the excruciating abdominal pain you pass it off as just another digestive problem.  But what I found out was that if there is an abscess, or peritonitis sets in it can be life threatening!  When infection fills up your gut you are in big trouble.  So, I've been on 2 antibiotics over the past 10 days.  Today is my last day.  I'm very excited about taking that last pill because nothing tastes good right now, and even water is bitter.  The meds have also made me dizzy and really messed up my tummy, nausea has been my constant companion.  The good thing is that I believe the infection is gone.  My fever has subsided, and I'm really anxious to get out of the house, at least for a little while.

One thing I'd like to share with you about this adventure is that during my down time I've done a lot of research.  I'm convinced that I can circumvent surgery (which my doctor said was inevitable). There's a lot to be said on the internet about digestive health.  Thousands of documents and special reports tout the importance of proper food combinations.  Google 'food combining' and you'll see for yourself.  The contention of these doctors and researchers is that a combination of high protein and high starches inhibits the absorption of all the nutritive factors of food and results in an unnecessary burden upon the entire digestive track.  I found it interesting that when we mix proteins and starches in the same meal there are different enzymes in the body (both acidic and alkaline) that are released by the digestive system.  When this happens at the same time they neutralize each other to the point where neither enzyme group can do its job.  That's when problems begin.

It's crazy to think that we shouldn't eat a steak with a baked potato, or toast with our egg.  But the chemistry speaks for itself.  So eat a steak and salad (skip the croutons), or a baked potato with a vegetable (just don't add butter or sour cream). If you like pasta, eat it with marinara sauce.  You can eat anything, you just have to eat it with the right foods.  I know that I personally have had issues with bloating.  I can eat very little and feel miserable.  This whole food combining is worth the time and effort for you to research, to experiment with, and hopefully it will change your life.  I know that I have set my sights on a healthier and pain free future.  As I progress I'll keep you posted.

With that said, I'd like to share this cute little card with you.  This is a Becky Roberts design, and although I changed it a bit, it's a great alternative to the typical card style.  As you can see from the second picture there is a piece of velcro under the flower.  The flower and pieces created with the Labels Collection Framelit die lift up so that the card opens from the top.  This great DSP is Everyday Enchantment, FREE from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. And that cute little brad, also FREE.

I'm really hoping to get back to posting on a daily basis.  My energy level has been so low that everything seems to be an effort, but it's time to get up and get moving again.

Thank you for stopping by today!
