A couple weeks ago I met my husband down in Leonidas where he was attending a machine gun shoot. I'm not particularly fond of guns, although I have a couple myself. As I watched these men and even a few women step up to the table to pay for their loaded magazines I was totally surprised at the huge amounts of cash being laid on the table, just for magazines, just for the opportunity to shoot these guns. I stood and watched this group for quite some time. There were 9MM Glocks and Uzis, an M16, just about any machine gun you could think of. Some of the guns were popping off their ammunition quietly, while others required not only ear protection, but a careful placement of your hands over your ears. Pop didn't do much for me, but then BOOM! Everyone jumped. OK, that's the gun I want to shoot. It was a 50BMG Bolt Action Bohica. At $5 a shot though, I just stayed back and watched. Then there was a Browning 50BMG that was belt fed. This one was sitting on a tripod and you had to lay on the ground to shoot it. My husband asked me over and over if I wanted to shoot anything. Well, honestly, I wanted to shoot the biggest one they had. He was concerned about where I'd end up once the shot was fired. Since I'd just come from church, I decided that I didn't want to get down on the ground or be knocked to the ground dressed in church clothes. But next time they have this event I'll be there, and I'm going to shoot the big one, I promise you!
I layed a quarter next to this bullet so you could get an idea of the size. Cool, huh!
This event will be held again in a couple months. You can check into Feek's Tactical Machine Gun Shoot by going to http://www.feekstactical.com
