We're all safely home, getting settled back into our routines with some amazing memories of Kathy and Jeff's wedding in Estes Park, Colorado. I've promised to share some of the candid photos that were taken on that very special day. They did have a professional photographer there, but we won't see those pictures for a few weeks. So, in the meantime, I'll try to give you a taste of what the day was like for us.
The bride arrives at Lily Lake. She really was a beautiful bride.
It was an absolutely beautiful day in the Rocky Mountains.
Kathy with her handsome, soon to be, father-in-law.
The bride is escorted by her step-dad, Paul and Tom.
The groom waits patiently with the photographer.
The groom with his parents, Sandy and Tom Huebner. Check out Jeff's left hand, the ceremony has taken place!
The marriage license, with all our signatures!
Kathy with Pastor Kevin.
The bride & groom are off to be photographed. These pictures will all be a surprise to the parents as we stayed behind to chat.
This was the original place chosen for the ceremony, but there were too many people milling around when we arrived, so we chose a more private spot on the north side of Lily Lake.
Once Kathy had made a decision to wear a white dress with a grey sash, I got busy looking for shawl patterns. I knew that the mountains could be very cool in early June, and wanted the bride to keep warm. She chose the pattern and the yarn color, which matched her sash perfectly.
Wasn't her bouquet just glorious! The necklace she is wearing belonged to Jeff's grandmother, his mom's mom. She has passed away, but will never be forgotten.
It's hard to get the camera away from me so that I can be photographed. Kathy snatched it away from me and took this snapshot of Paul and I. Can you see the joy on my face!!!!!
Tom and Sandy led us to the spot they picked out to celebrate this joyous event. Twin Owls Steakhouse gave us a private room and served us an exquisite meal. The purse you see Kathy carrying was made by Sandy. A perfect sized felted bag with adorable flowers in Kathy's colors. The purse is flipped to the backside in this picture, so you'll just have to use your imagination. All those who attended her wedding shower got a glimpse of this beautiful little bag.
Sandy arranged to have a small wedding cake, in Kathy's colors, delivered to the restaurant. It was the most delicious cake I've ever had, white cake with almond. Kathy was so excited to see the cake, she didn't think she'd have one. The day before the wedding, she and I had walked into a cupcake bakery and she whined a little about not having a wedding cake. She asked me if she should buy some cupcakes. I played dumb (easy for me) and said 'no, we don't need cupcakes'. I sensed her disappointment, but knew she'd be very surprised in just a few hours.
The groom gets a taste of the luscious cake.
The happy bride and groom at lunch the next day at Grubsteak Grill in Estes Park. We should have had someone take a picture of the 6 of us! Obviously we just weren't thinking!
A special thanks to all who sent Kathy a message on the day of their wedding. It meant so much to her to know that you were thinking of her!!!
I hope these pictures have captured the excitement of that special day, and that sharing them with you has made you smile!
