Revisiting Aviary

Sometimes I just crack myself up!!!!  I saw an adorable card online that Steffi had done.  Now, I don't mean to brag, but I'm pretty darn good at looking at a card and duplicating it.  Seems I can always figure out what was used and how.  As I was studying this one, I decided that she must have stamped the birdcage stand and that the wispy branch and leaves were hand drawn.  It looked familiar to me, but as I looked at her leaves, they just looked hand done.  So, I decided to give it a whirl and hand drew the branch and plopped in the leaves with the brush tip of my Old Olive marker.  Here is my card.

I'd planned on using this as a class project, but I know a couple gals that would totally freak out at having to hand draw anything!  So, I decided I'd just share it with you.  A few days later I'm still bothered by that branch.  I thought it must have been from a discontinued set.  I'd already looked through my stamps and hadn't found it so I started going through last year's catalog.  And there it was, as big as life!  Thoughts & Prayers.  I pulled the set off my shelf but didn't see that particular stamp.  Hmmm.  Oh my, I'd missed it because it was a double mounted stamp set, the tree was face up and the branch was face down.  I chuckled to myself and just shook my head.  I promptly made a photo copy of the set in the catalog, cut it out and placed it in the stamp case.  But I decided to leave this card just as it is to remind myself that I'm just not as smart as I think I am!!!!!

The sweet little pearls add the finishing touch.

Along with the Aviary Stamp Set, I used a greeting stamp from Petite Pairs.

Have a wonderful week, and thanks for stopping by!!!

  1. That's priceless, Carol! But I have to say that your hand-drawing looks as good as the stamp (maybe better?). :)
