Losing An 'Old Friend'

I've often talked about my favorites. Favorite place to be, favorite food, favorite stamp set.  It's just fun to write about the things and places that bring me joy and contentment.  Favorites can be like old friends, something that you turn to when you need to be comforted, a bright spot on a dreary day.  Last evening I found out that I will be losing an 'old friend'. Your Local Yarn Shop in Battle Creek has been my destination yarn shop since they opened,  spending many Tuesday afternoons knitting, sharing stories, making friends, gathering with old friends, ripping out knitting, touching and caressing the wonderful yarn and of course buying that same yarn to take home where it either becomes part of my stash or becomes a magnificent piece of creativity.  At the end of the year they will be gone, and truly, life will not be the same.  But like the owners, there comes a time to move on.  To seek out another challenge, another gathering place, another community of knitters, another place of comfort and inspiration.  We are all changing, always evolving into that person for which God has a destiny.  How comforting that is, to know that losing something important to you is not the end, that life has many little treasures along the way that we must pick up, enjoy for a while, share with others and then release.  The little bit of heaven that I found at YLYS will aways be remembered, and will always be held close to my heart.  I learned a lot there, about knitting, about life, about people.  What will be the next little treasure God will put in my path?

This picture is my first sweater, made at YLYS with much help from Kelly.

Classes were always fun with Kelly.  This beautiful dark grey shawl, Terra, made with amazing Flicker yarn by Berroco, was challenging, but oh, so fun!

I certainly won't stop knitting, absolutely not!

You have only 2 months to make it your favorite yarn shop, hurry in before it's gone forever!

Thanks for letting me share today!
