It's hard to believe that the 70's were so very long ago. I remember my candy apple red Honda. I wish I had a picture of it, it was really a thing of beauty. I hardly ever had the chance to ride it though, as the children were young, and since I worked all day I hated to leave them in the evenings or on weekends. But I can always say I owned one. I don't think you could get me on one today, the roads are busier, and with so many people distracted while they're driving, the roads aren't necessarily a safe place for motorcycles. Ah, yes, memories. It's funny how writing this blog has brought back things that I really hadn't thought about in years.
Today's card was put in the mail just this morning, to my daughter's boyfriend, Jeff. He has a gorgeous Harley, but rarely gets the time to ride. Maybe this card will spark some interest in taking it for a spin.
Now, I have to tell you a little story about the class. My good friend Michelle Thurston was in the afternoon class. I had randomly cut map pieces from the west coast to the east coast, not paying any attention to what I was cutting. So imagine it, small pieces of maps cut from page after page. Michelle was putting her card together, and pulled out all the pieces for this particular card. Again, remember, these were random cuttings and everyone grabs their own packet from the pile on the table. She mentioned that she'd have to send this one to her son who was out in California at boot camp. As she studied the particular map that was in her packet, she said 'oh, this is California'. That was cool I thought, that she got that one. Then as she studied the map closer she said 'there's Camp Pendelton!'. Now, I ask you, what are the chances of that happening! She was thrilled and I was in awe. It was totally a God thing!!!!!!
So, here are the supplies that we used to make this card:
Stamp Set: Motorcycle (retired and in great demand, you won't find this one in my garage sale), Think Happy Thoughts (also retired)
Paper: Basic Black, Wild Wasabi, Whisper White cardstock, miscellaneous map pieces from an Atlas
Ink: Basic Black Craft Ink
Punches: 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" Circles, Cogs (retiring the end of June)
Other Supplies: Metal Flashing (purchased at Menards), Big Shot, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, dimensionals
This was a fun card to make! I hope you like it!
