Remembering Lovely As a Tree

Can you remember the first Stampin' UP! party you ever went to?  I distinctly remember attending one to appease a co-worker.  She was extremely excited about the whole concept of making cards.  I, on the other hand, couldn't have cared less.

The demonstrator truly kept it simple.  A stamp in the middle of white cardstock.  Colored in with chalk.  Then one edge of the card was trimmed off with decorative scissors.  No embellishments.  Nothing fancy.  I went absolutely bonkers.  The truth is I couldn't sleep very well after that encounter, until I made the decision to sign up.  Not everyone is stung by the stampin' bug, but I certainly was.  That was almost 15 years ago.

Why am I telling you this?  Because over the years many stamps have come and many stamps have gone away.  But Lovely As A Tree has remained a faithful friend to all of us since 2001.  That is a very long time for a set to remain in the catalog.  I love it as much today as I did back in 2001.

Today's project revisits that wonderful stamp set. I've added Orchard Harvest DSP, and I think the More Mustard and Cajun Craze are perfect for this card.

I inked the oak leaves stamp with Black Stazon and stamped on watercolor paper. It's important to use a permanent ink when you watercolor, and I believe Stazon is the best. It was fun playing with the fall colors of watercolor crayons.

The Scallop Squares Duo Bigz die was used with Crumb Cake cardstock behind the watercolor paper.  The greeting is from the Blooming with Kindness stamp set.  The pretty ribbon is Crumb Cake seam binding.

A big thank you to Stampin' UP! for continuing to offer this magnificent stamp set.  When in does retire, it will still stay on my shelf, forever!
