My dear sister had a birthday a couple of weeks ago. Each year we try to go on an adventure, and this year was no exception. The weather made it even more of an adventure because we anticipated getting stranded somewhere, possibly in Shipshewana! Judy, Kathy and I ventured out on a blustery cold day in January. First stop was the Essenhaus in Middlebury for lunch. Yum, no better place for home cooked comfort food. Beef and noodles on mashed potatoes! It was to die for! Plenty for lunch the next day too. We were all too full for pie, but I was certainly tempted, every kind of pie you can imagine! Of coarse Kathy had to stop into the Essenhaus bakery for an angel food cake, and as I remember there was 1/2 a pie in her hands too!
After lunch we drove the few short miles east to Shipshewana. There always has to be a stop at Yoder's, where there is an awesome selection of meats, cheeses, and specialty food items. Not so tempting though with a tummy filled with beef and noodles. Our next stop was downtown, where we walked around in the mercantile building that housed a wonderful fabric shop called Lolly's. I resisted buying yard after yard of fabric as I have a number of projects already in my stash, but it was very fun looking. Judy had a mission. Somewhere we had to find the store that sold some of the best caramel corn around. It wasn't easy to find! Kathy finally spotted it in the middle of one of the stores we visited, so Judy was able to stock up on caramel corn for her hubby. After walking and walking and walking it was time for a treat. Smoothies for Judy and Kathy and a Mocha coffee for me. Time was flitting by, so we headed out to arrive home before dark.
At lunch I gave Judy her birthday gifts, and today's card is the card that I gave her. Simple but elegant!
It was such a cold day, I thought the 'warmest wishes' was most appropriate!
Not lingering long on the computer today as I'm preparing for the second Love Heart class of the day. Those cards will be coming up in the next few days!
Thanks for stopping by!
